4 Technologies that are changing Digital Marketing (Part 1)

Every time we talk about Digital Marketing innovation we thougt we´re dealing with something that is in a future far away than what actually is. We´re still interiorizing last year changes and have to start digesting the current year changes. Things happen that fast.

Studies estimate that by the year 2020 fifty billion devices (50.000.000.000!!) will be connected to the internet. That is 50 per home and 7 per person. Plus, these devices will be intelligent, integrating voice assistants like Siri, Cortana od Google Now. We will communicate with them and they will learn our tendences, tastes and preferences.

I don´t need to piont out that this will result in a radical change in our way of living and communicatin each other and with these devices.

The path is set in such way that with time we will differenciate less and less the off and online world. In this digitalized Marketing world there are 4 tendencies that will change the market in the short term. We will show you some of the brands that are enlighten customers with them.

1. VIRTUAL REALITY



Is the tendence that is already the 2016 revelation since the big players of the market (Oculus, Sony, etc) launched their VR Glasses this year. Virtual Reality will open infinite possibilities in multiple fields and it going to take the user experience to a completely new level. This is not only going to revolution the way we consume contents, but is going to change radically the way we learn, communicate, and of course, the way we will enjoy ourselves playing videogames!.

As it couldn´t be otherwise, there are companies that are anticipating to the new wave of opportunities and already offer programmatic ad inventory for 360° videos and VR apps. Only time will tell if this is just another channel or if it will turn into the new way of connecting with audiences.

  • Qantas Airways anticipates you the experience you will live once you land: The company presented a pilot program for their first-class travellers. While they fly, the company gives glasses and helmets, and make 3D tours or 360° videos of the destiny. Among the available places is the Hamilton Island which video is available below.
  • The experience of the movie "The conjuring 2" which went viral some months ago. We still have no metrics about how many people went to the movie theatres after experiencing a little of the fear in the movie through this video but...
